I know how little an “About” page is read, so I really appreciate you stopping by.
I’m a freelance writer, or at least that’s what I’m setting out to be. I’ve been published a few times in the local newspaper, and I’ve finally committed to take my writing seriously. That determination is what makes me a writer, not the hypothetical future millions I might make off my word-slinging skills.
This blog is my portfolio. As I develop my career, I’ll send colleagues to this site for a sample of my writing. Therefore, it will be a mixture of styles and topics. I know that’s taboo for blogging, but I’m doing it anyways.
So, about me…
I’m a mother. For anyone who excuses their lack of dedication to their craft because, “I don’t have the time!”; if I can do it, so can you. Being a mother has given me a new perspective on different aspects of my life, but this is not a mommy blog, so I won’t delve into that right now.
I love horticulture. Gardening is both an art and a science. I believe it’s the perfect mixture for the imperfect perfectionist.
I crochet. I’m not a grandma, it just keeps me sane.
I’m a Christian. I would not have the confidence to write if God had not saved me from myself. His forgiveness and mercy has humbled me time and again, and is the inspiration for all my work.
I would like to say I’ve had a unique life, but we all have, so I’ll just say I’ve lived.
I’m writing a novel loosely based on past experiences, and my goal is to have it agent-ready by Fall 2016. This statement scares the hell out of me, because it means I must finish what I’ve started.
That’s what this blog is really all about. It’s my promise to myself to quit quitting on me. Even if I’m my only reader, I will be successful.
That being said, I invite you to join me on my journey. Writers tend to be hermits, and having followers is about as social as we get.
